I had been volunteering with an NGO based in Pondicherry for a year. I had begun lessons in paragliding in France and planned to get some more while in India. You cannot progress a lot in Europe thanks to its unpredictable weather. Here in Kamshet with Nirvana, in a short while I managed to log more airtime than I would have in a few months back home. |

A second generation American of Indian origin, I had traveled to India before to visit relatives in the Punjab this was the first visit minus the family. The purpose of the visit was in my capacity as student of medicine to experience working in a Mumbai hospital. I had no idea that I would land up learning to fly here. But that is exactly what happened. |

“I fly regularly… It is pure thrill and liberation to be in the air on your own...There is a sense of defiance of, as well as respect, for nature. It puts you in touch with your wild side, and hey! it makes you look cool in a room full of suits on a Monday morning when you discuss your weekend activities"

I signed up for the P1 course on an impulse. I’m not typically an adventurous person and once I began training I had my doubts about flying solo. But free-flight changes everything. Today I’m just so happy I gave it a go. I seriously think that everybody should learn to fly. |

I used to be an armchair pilot...flying F22 on my desktop before turning into bed and Mission Cuba to surface in the morning. I had been working on the Nirvana website and had an open invitation to experience free flight. So I deleted Mission Cuba from my desktop and headed out to the hills to achieve my dream of flight. SIMS out... PARA-is in. THE REAL THING. |

On board my Ship I have always enjoyed the feeling of the wind in my face and the vast openness around. During my PG training, first couple of days negotiating the wind on the ground was all new and exciting. I discovered subtle similarities between sailing and flying. In fact its like sailing in the air. I cant wait to get back, do my P2 and navigate the skies. |

I do mapping for a living and chart out unmarked territories on a day, to day basis. Paragliding lent new dimensions to my mind, my work and my senses. This time I ventured into uncharted territory of a different kind. I can’t wait for another dose of free flight. |

we are always on the lookout for something exciting to do. Our 6 year old son as well is a tall order. We drove down to Kamshet and although I had reservations about me and Vasu flying and leaving our son unattended it all worked out perfectly for us because of the friendly people at Native Place. We completed the P1 course and also tried our hands at rafting and fishing. |

My kicks come out of pushing myself to greater limits. I raft down rivers, climb mountains, trek and camp for a living. Each adventure is different from the next in the subtle ways it changes you. Yet, the first time my feet left the ground, I had changed - the transformation more pronounced than anything I had experienced so far (barring sex, maybe)!!! |

I love the outdoors and the wilderness. I find speed exciting. High speed driving up to Kamshet put me in my elements. Paragliding I discovered was not about high speed. The gentle speeds of the glider gave a different kind of adrenalin rush. I enjoyed having the controls in my hands and being able to steer the craft and land smoothly on my feet. |
