This hill station is located in the Western Ghats (hills) off an ancient trade route that once linked the west coast to the hinterland. The hills along this route are dotted with ancient cave temples, medieval hill fortresses and colonial hill stations.

Kamshet offers you a glimpse into a simple sustainable lifestyle & a chance to meet warm, friendly village people. The small villages are still built in traditional style (mud, thatch & reed) farmers still till their land with the ancient plough and oxen, the bullock cart is still a reliable means of transport.
The immense lakes in the area and an altitude of 2200 ft. msl. keep the temperature cool and add to the beauty and magic of this special place.
Nightlife in Kamshet:
Moonlight swims and barbecue’s by the lakeside is what we 
do to unwind after a tiring day at the site. Balu’s, the loc
al pub on the way back to base is ideal for a few beers and mingling with the locals.
For colorful restaurants serving a delicious selection of Indian barbecue and curry dishes, the dhaba’s on the highway are a good bet.
If you tire of the peace and are looking for a lively atmosphere, Pune, an hour and half, away (45 km) offers an abundance of restaurants and bars to choose from.
Non-Flyers & Other Activities
Each year we have a number of non-flyers, who enjoy Kamshet’s idyllic, peaceful surroundings as much as pilots do.
Children are welcome too! There isn't a lot of infrastructure dedicated to children yet, but our experience has shown us that the simple fact of being in the hills, with trees to climb, sheep, goats and cows to watch and other children to play with has made our young visitors very happy.
There is a wide range of activities including trekking, boating, traditional style fishing, visits to ancient cave temples and forts, courses in transcendental meditation at an ashram nearby to try out or just relaxing on your terrace with a good book
There are many beautiful spots to be discovered in the 
surroundings of Kamshet. Of particular interest is the university town of Pune, 45 Km away, famed for the Osho ashram with its orange robed devotees & radical meditation techniques, a mix of cool hangouts, pubs & restaurants, historic buildings & old-world charm. Closer to base is the Karla, Bhaja and Bhedsa caves, ancient Buddhist cave temples with exquisite carvings and magnificent statues of the Buddha.
